Kadamba dynasty
Kadamba dynasty was a state in Deccan (South Asia) that lasted from c. 345 to 540 CE, about 195 years. Its people spoke Dravidian languages (Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam).
Founded by Mayurasharma, a Brahmin who rebelled against the Pallavas. The Kadambas were the first rulers to use Kannada in inscriptions, as at Halmidi, before the Badami Chalukyas absorbed them.
