French Togoland

French Togoland was a colony in West Africa coast and forest (North and West Africa) that lasted from 1916 to 1960 CE, about 44 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Latin and Romance (Latin, Italic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian).

Part of German Togoland assigned to France in 1916, then a League of Nations mandate from 1922 and a UN trust territory from 1946. It became the independent Togolese Republic in 1960.
