Estonian SSR
Estonian SSR was a state in Scandinavia and the Baltic (Europe) that lasted from 1940 to 1991 CE, about 51 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Uralic (Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian, Sami, Samoyed).
Soviet republic established in 1940 on the occupied and annexed territory of Estonia, which Nazi Germany held from 1941 to 1944. Most countries did not recognise the annexation de jure. The name was dropped in 1990, and full independence was declared on 20 August 1991.
