Gallic Empire
Gallic Empire was a state in France and the Low Countries (Europe) that lasted from 260 to 274 CE, about 14 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Latin and Romance (Latin, Italic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian).
Modern name for a breakaway western part of the Roman Empire that functioned de facto as a separate state. Postumus established it in 260 during the Crisis of the Third Century, controlling Gaul and adjacent provinces, and Aurelian retook it after the Battle of Châlons in 274.
