Latvian SSR
Latvian SSR was a state in Scandinavia and the Baltic (Europe) that lasted from 1940 to 1991 CE, about 51 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Baltic (Lithuanian, Latvian, Old Prussian).
Soviet republic covering the occupied and annexed territory of Latvia from 1940, much of it held by Nazi Germany from 1941 to 1944. The occupation was widely considered illegal by the international community. Latvia restored its independence as the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991.
