French Cameroon
French Cameroon was a colony in West Africa coast and forest (North and West Africa) that lasted from 1916 to 1960 CE, about 44 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Latin and Romance (Latin, Italic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian).
Part of German Kamerun occupied by France from 1916, a League of Nations mandate and later a UN trust territory. The anti-colonial UPC party was outlawed in 1955 and fought French forces in an insurgency. It became independent as the Republic of Cameroon on 1 January 1960.
