Umayyad and Abbasid Ifriqiya
Umayyad and Abbasid Ifriqiya was an empire in Maghreb (North and West Africa) that lasted from 670 to 800 CE, about 130 years. Its people spoke Arabic languages (Arabic-speaking states).
Uqba ibn Nafi founded Kairouan in 670 as the base for the conquest of the Maghreb. Berber resistance under Kahina and the Kharijite revolt of 740 slowed caliphal control.
