Srivijaya
Srivijaya was an empire in Malay Peninsula and Sumatra (Southeast Asia) that lasted from c. 650 to 1377 CE, about 727 years. Its people spoke Austronesian languages (Malay, Javanese, Cham, Tagalog, Malagasy, Polynesian, Maori).
A Malay maritime empire based at Palembang that controlled the Strait of Malacca and was a centre of Buddhist learning. Chola raids in 1025 weakened it, power shifted to Jambi, and a Javanese attack in 1377 ended its last remnant.
