State of Vietnam
State of Vietnam was a state in Vietnam (Southeast Asia) that lasted from 1949 to 1955 CE, about 6 years. Its people spoke Austroasiatic languages (Khmer, Mon, Vietnamese, Munda).
France set up this state under the former emperor Bao Dai as a rival to the Viet Minh. Prime Minister Ngo Dinh Diem deposed Bao Dai through a rigged referendum in 1955.
