Myanmar (Burma)
Myanmar (Burma) is a state in Burma (Southeast Asia) that has existed since 1948 CE. Its people spoke Tibeto-Burman languages (Tibetan, Burmese, Newar, Pyu, Tangut).
Independent in 1948, Burma came under military rule after Ne Win's 1962 coup. A partial democratic opening under Aung San Suu Kyi ended with the 2021 coup, which set off a nationwide civil war.
