Chu (Ten Kingdoms)
Chu (Ten Kingdoms) was a state in South China and Taiwan (East Asia) that lasted from 907 to 951 CE, about 44 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Chinese (Sinitic languages).
One of the Ten Kingdoms, also called Ma Chu, ruled by the family of Ma Yin over present-day Hunan and northeastern Guangxi from Changsha. Under Ma Yin it exported horses, silk and tea. Succession struggles followed, and the Southern Tang conquered it in 951.
