Khmer Empire
Khmer Empire was an empire in Cambodia (Southeast Asia) that lasted from 802 to 1431 CE, about 629 years. Its people spoke Austroasiatic languages (Khmer, Mon, Vietnamese, Munda).
Jayavarman II proclaimed himself universal monarch in 802. His successors built Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom and ruled much of mainland Southeast Asia, until Ayutthaya's sack of Angkor in 1431 moved the court south.
