Panama under Colombia
Panama under Colombia was a state in Lower Central America (Mesoamerica and Caribbean) that lasted from 1821 to 1903 CE, about 82 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Latin and Romance (Latin, Italic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian).
After breaking from Spain in November 1821, Panama joined Colombia as a department with two provinces, Panamá and Veraguas. It was a federal state from 1855 to 1886, then a department again, and achieved independence in 1903.
