Republic of Maryland
Republic of Maryland was a state in West Africa coast and forest (North and West Africa) that lasted from 1834 to 1857 CE, about 23 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Germanic (Gothic, Frankish, English, German, Dutch, Norse).
Settled in 1834 by freed and freeborn African Americans under the Maryland State Colonization Society. It stayed separate from Liberia, declared independence in 1854 as Maryland in Liberia, and merged into Liberia in 1857.
