Republic of South Africa (apartheid era)
Republic of South Africa (apartheid era) was a state in South Africa and Namibia (Central and Southern Africa) that lasted from 1961 to 1994 CE, about 33 years. Its people spoke Germanic languages (Gothic, Frankish, English, German, Dutch, Norse).
A republic outside the Commonwealth from 1961, it enforced racial segregation, created nominally independent Bantustans and banned the ANC. Uprisings, sanctions and negotiations led to the first democratic election in 1994.
