Icelandic Commonwealth
Icelandic Commonwealth was a state in Scandinavia and the Baltic (Europe) that lasted from 930 to 1262 CE, about 332 years. Its people spoke Germanic languages (Gothic, Frankish, English, German, Dutch, Norse).
Norse settlers founded the Althing in 930, an assembly of chieftains with no king. Decades of feuding ended when the chieftains swore allegiance to King Haakon IV of Norway in 1262.
