Colony of Liberia
Colony of Liberia was a colony in West Africa coast and forest (North and West Africa) that lasted from 1821 to 1847 CE, about 26 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Germanic (Gothic, Frankish, English, German, Dutch, Norse).
Private colony of the American Colonization Society, which acquired Cape Mesurado in December 1821 to settle freed and freeborn African Americans. Known from 1838 as the Commonwealth of Liberia, it declared independence in 1847. The US did not recognise it until 1862.
