Bhopal State
Bhopal State was a state in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Malwa (South Asia) that lasted from 1707 to 1949 CE, about 242 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Iranian (Median, Persian, Parthian, Scythian, Sogdian, Pashto, Kurdish).
Founded in 1707 by Dost Mohammad Khan, a Pashtun soldier in the Mughal army. A Maratha tributary and then a British protectorate from 1818, it was ruled by four women, the Begums, between 1819 and 1926, and merged into India in 1949.
