Travancore
Travancore was a state in Tamil south and Sri Lanka (South Asia) that lasted from 1729 to 1949 CE, about 220 years. Its people spoke Dravidian languages (Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam).
Marthanda Varma built Travancore out of the old Venad kingdom and beat the Dutch at Colachel in 1741. As a princely state it reached some of the highest literacy rates in India before merging into Travancore-Cochin in 1949.
