Mutapa Empire
Mutapa Empire was an empire in Zambezi and Zimbabwe Plateau (Central and Southern Africa) that lasted from c. 1430 to 1760 CE, about 330 years. Its people spoke Bantu languages (Kongo, Shona, Zulu, Swahili, Luba, Ganda).
Founded by Nyatsimba Mutota, who moved north from Great Zimbabwe, the Mwenemutapa kings ruled the northern plateau and the Zambezi valley. Portuguese traders and soldiers pressed in from the 16th century and made it a vassal in 1629.
