Kamakura shogunate
Kamakura shogunate was a state in Japan (East Asia) that lasted from 1185 to 1333 CE, about 148 years. Its people spoke Japonic languages (Japanese, Ryukyuan).
Minamoto no Yoritomo set up the first warrior government, later run by the Hojo regents. It beat back two Mongol invasions in 1274 and 1281, and Emperor Go-Daigo's supporters destroyed it in 1333.
