New France
New France was a colony in Canada and the Subarctic (North America) that lasted from 1534 to 1763 CE, about 229 years. Its people spoke Latin and Romance languages (Latin, Italic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian).
France claimed the St Lawrence after Jacques Cartier's 1534 voyage and Champlain founded Quebec in 1608. Its fur trade empire reached the Gulf of Mexico before Britain took it in the Seven Years' War.
