French Louisiana
French Louisiana was a colony in Eastern Woodlands (North America) that lasted from 1682 to 1762 CE, about 80 years. Its people spoke Latin and Romance languages (Latin, Italic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian).
La Salle claimed the Mississippi basin for France in 1682 and New Orleans was founded in 1718. France gave the colony to Spain in 1762 to compensate for its losses in the Seven Years' War.
