Colony of New South Wales
Colony of New South Wales was a colony in Australia (Oceania) that lasted from 1788 to 1901 CE, about 113 years. Its people spoke Germanic languages (Gothic, Frankish, English, German, Dutch, Norse).
Founded as a penal colony when the First Fleet landed at Sydney Cove in January 1788. About 80,000 convicts were sent there before transportation ended in 1840, and free settlers and the wool trade took over.
