Sur Empire
Sur Empire was an empire in Gangetic plain and Nepal (South Asia) that lasted from 1540 to 1556 CE, about 16 years. Its people spoke Iranian languages (Median, Persian, Parthian, Scythian, Sogdian, Pashto, Kurdish).
Sher Shah Suri, a Pashtun chief from Bihar, drove the Mughal emperor Humayun into exile. In five years he rebuilt the Grand Trunk Road, minted the silver rupee and reformed land revenue; Humayun returned in 1555.
