Thanjavur Maratha kingdom
Thanjavur Maratha kingdom was a state in Tamil south and Sri Lanka (South Asia) that lasted from 1675 to 1855 CE, about 180 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Indo-Aryan (Vedic, Sanskrit, Prakrit, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Sinhala).
Maratha general Ekoji I (Vyankoji Bhosale) founded this Bhonsle kingdom in the Kaveri delta. Serfoji II ceded civil and military administration to the East India Company in 1799, and the British annexed the titular principality in 1855 under the Doctrine of Lapse.
