Democratic Kampuchea (Khmer Rouge)
Democratic Kampuchea (Khmer Rouge) was a state in Cambodia (Southeast Asia) that lasted from 1975 to 1979 CE, about 4 years. Its people spoke Austroasiatic languages (Khmer, Mon, Vietnamese, Munda).
Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge emptied the cities, abolished money and religion, and killed or starved around 1.5 to 2 million people, about a quarter of the population. A Vietnamese invasion drove them out in January 1979.
