Japanese occupation of the Philippines
Japanese occupation of the Philippines was a colony in Borneo and the Philippines (Southeast Asia) that lasted from 1942 to 1945 CE, about 3 years. Its people spoke Japonic languages (Japanese, Ryukyuan).
Japan invaded in December 1941 and, after the fall of Bataan and Corregidor, ran a puppet republic under Jose P. Laurel. The battle for Manila in 1945 destroyed much of the city.
