Berar Sultanate
Berar Sultanate was a state in Deccan (South Asia) that lasted from 1490 to 1574 CE, about 84 years. The timeline colours it by the language of its rulers: Dravidian (Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam).
Fathullah Imad-ul-Mulk, governor of Berar and a Kanarese Hindu by birth raised as a Muslim, proclaimed independence in 1490 amid Bahmani civil unrest and ruled from Ellichpur. Murtaza Nizam Shah I of Ahmadnagar invaded and annexed it in 1574.
