Kingdom of Matamba
Kingdom of Matamba was a state in Lower Congo and Angola (Central and Southern Africa) that lasted from c. 1530 to 1744 CE, about 214 years. Its people spoke Bantu languages (Kongo, Shona, Zulu, Swahili, Luba, Ganda).
Queen Njinga took Matamba around 1631 and made it the base of her long war against Portugal. It stayed an independent trading power on the slave routes until a Portuguese campaign defeated it in 1744.
